SUMMARY:LIVE (next to) THE APOLLO Presents JEN BRISTER + Friends
DESCRIPTION:Live Next To The Apollo\, the celebrated premier stand-up comedy club which resides at the iconic Riverside Studios in London – just down the street from THE legendary Hammersmith Apollo!  \n \nAfter rave reviews from Centenary audience members\, Live Next To The Apollo returns to Berkhamsted this Autumn. Previously we brought stars of Live At The Apollo Sara Pascoe\, Finlay Christie\, Laura Smyth\, Stephen K Amos and Hal Cruttenden to the Centenary Theatre. \n \nJen Brister is a critically acclaimed stand up comedian and writer who has been seen on BBC’s Live at the Apollo\, Mock the Week\, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order\, Hypothetical and Sara Pascoe’s Comedy Lectures on Dave. She is a regular performer on the UK and international comedy circuits and has written and performed on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz\, The Now Show and presented for BBC 6 Music. \n \n● “Bold sketches\, surreal ideas and slick banter. Keep an eye out.” The Sunday Times \n● “Furiously Funny.” The Guardian \n● “Her energy is explosive. Her use of space and delivery mesmerising” The Sunday Times \n● “Gorgeously talented” Time Out \n● “Blisteringly funny…Brister is a truly natural and gifted performer” The List \n \nMike Gunn A misspent youth and a series of grim jobs cultivated his cynical outlook on life and a perverse desire led him to the world of stand-up. A self-confessed pessimist\, he describes himself as “not a natural choice for a career in laughter”. He has a rare ability to walk close to the line of what audiences find acceptable and yet still remain likable and funny. His reputation for being a bit unfriendly\, a touch dark and even morose is really not true. In real life he’s loving\, warm and philanthropic. Just a bit misunderstood. Mike has supported Michael McIntyre\, Jo Brand\, Alan Davies\, Lee Mack on tour. His TV credits include TV Credits: Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow\, Celebrity Deal or no Deal\, Harry Hill’s TV Burp\, Al Murray’s ‘Time Gentlemen Please’\, Soccer AM \, The Comedy Store (Comedy Central). He is currently a regular on the Sky Poker channel! \n \n● “ONE OF THE TOP TEN STAND-UPS IN THE COUNTRY” The Independent \n● “MIKE GUNN WILL MAKE YOU DIE LAUGHING” The Guardian \n \nEli Hart was a finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 2024 awards and then went on to win the BBC New Comedy Awards 2025. He has a remarkable astuteness for the minutiae of mundane existence. He wears his glum disappointment with pride\, and has a downbeat deadpan delivery that suits his West Midlands accent so well. Imagine a Brummie\, even gloomier young Jack Dee! \n \nThor Stenhaug Norwegian comedian Thor Stenhaug has just returned from his debut solo UK tour. He completely sold-out his run at the Soho Theatre in September\, which followed on from his sold-out Edinburgh Fringe run last summer. Thor has offered tour support for big hitters such as Josh Widdecombe\, Jack Dee and Fern Brady. He was shortlisted for British Comedian of the Year – despite not being British! \n \n● “Stenhaug’s observational storytelling is effortlessly compelling… his material is razor-sharp” The Telegraph \n● “Norwegian comedy god of thunder has a storming debut.” The Scotsman \n● “Warm\, polished and replete with layered gags and clever callbacks” Edinburgh Review \n \n16+ age. Adult language and themes. Very occasionally acts may change from that advertised\, due to their TV and tour commitments\, which are beyond our control. Be assured we will always bill a premium line-up with laughs guaranteed!
