Coinciding with Knife Crime Awareness Week, which runs from Monday, May 18 to Sunday, May 24, Haringey Council has organised a series of events aimed at educating young people and the wider community about the dangers of knife crime and gang involvement.
The initiative brings together a wide network of partners, including Community Safety, the Metropolitan Police Service, Schools, Youth Service, the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and the Youth Justice Service (YJS).
A Haringey Council spokesperson said: “Haringey will be marking Knife Crime Awareness Week by continuing to educate and empower the borough’s young people to steer clear of knife crime and gang violence.
“The council has organised a broad range of preventative events and interventions as part of a concerted Week of Action, starting next Monday (18 May 2026).”
Activities throughout the week will include knife crime awareness workshops led by the Godwin Lawson Foundation.
These will take place at Kickz football sessions organised by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
The programme also includes anti-knife crime messaging, online counselling, and practical toolkits for young people.
Mobile Youth Hubs will be active in the community, offering support and partnering with United Borders to deliver interactive music sessions via a youth bus.
In addition, young people will take part in social action projects, visiting retailers to remind them of their legal duty not to sell knives to under-18s.
The council’s Trading Standards team will carry out test purchases to identify non-compliant businesses.
Police will conduct targeted weapon sweeps and set up knife arches at key locations across the borough.
All activities are designed to raise awareness, promote safety, and deter young people from becoming involved in knife crime.
Further details and a full programme of events are available on the Knife Crime Awareness Week page of the Haringey Council website.
